«Dune – Part Two»

Absolutely overwhelmed after the screening and after a night of digestion (had trouble falling asleep), I highly recommend the second part of Denis Villeneuve’s «Dune».

You remember the times of «Star Wars», «Lord of the Rings», «Harry Potter» or «Narnia»? Such earthquake like film starts are a sweet memory and over the last decade, rare were the films, who made me want to go back to the cinema for a second screening.

Denis Villeneuve’s «Dune», the second film adaptation of the Science Fiction novel by American author Frank Herbert (1965) is worth watching for the following reasons:

1. The breathtaking scenery of the desert. The element “sand” is used in many original ways – the sand worms, the sand storms, the sand walk (a kind of dance move over the sand to avoid waking up the worms), the “spice” (this crucial resource in the world of intergalactic flights) etc.

2. The amazing CAST is a mix of beautiful young actors: Zendaya, Timothée Chalamet, Austin Butler, Florence Pugh, Léa Seydoux, Rebecca Ferguson and renowned ones like Oscar Isaac, Stellan Skarsgård and Christopher Walken in the role of the emperor. Zendaya plays a tough female role, who won’t be fooled by the messianic prophecy around Paul Atreides now going under the name of war lord Muad’Dib (the desert mouse in Fremen language).

Rebecca Ferguson in the role of Paul’s mother and reverend mother of the Bene Gesserit, a powerful religious and social force.

3. The incredible sound design and music by Hans Zimmer

4. The epic character of this new film saga and the fact that after having seen the first part, your expectations are more than met by the second, making the third part the most awaited film in the coming years.
